GALERIE ANJA KNOESS freut sich die erste Ausstellung von ANICA HAUSWALD in Köln zu präsentieren. Die als KORRESPONDENZEN entstandenen Arbeiten der Düsseldorfer Künstlerin treten in einen malerischen Dialog mit Fotografien von Jessica Backhaus und Peter Braunholz, mit Gemälden von Cigdem Aky, Sabine Beyerle, Marion Eichmann, Bertram Hasenauer und Martin Wehmer sowie einer Skulptur von Roland Schmitz.

In ihren aktuellen Werken bringt Anica Hauswald die Ölfarbe mal mit großzügigeren, mal mit kürzeren, neben- und übereinander gesetzten und farbig gemischten Pinselsstrichen auf den Bildträger. Dabei arbeitet sie sicher und schnell, mit feinem Gespür für Proportion, Farbstimmung, Licht und Kontraste. Es entstehen zum einen Gemälde in denen ihre schnell und fast staccatohaft nebeneinandergesetzten Farbakkorde eine dichte Überlagerung und vibrierende Farbvielfalt erzeugen. In anderen Arbeiten malt sie mit singulären, längeren Gesten luftig komponierte, tiefe Bildräume voller Licht und Farbe. Des Weiteren entstehen Motive auf fein abgestimmten, monochromen Bildgründen, wo einzelne Pinselsetzungen fast flüchtig vor dem Farbraum des Bildes zu schweben scheinen.

Die Malerei von Ancia Hauswald steht klar in der Tradition des Informel, weder interessiert sie ein gegenständliches Motiv noch eine narrative Struktur im Bild.

GALERIE ANJA KNOESS is pleased to present the first exhibition of ANICA HAUSWALD in Cologne. The works of the Düsseldorf artist, created as KORRESPONDENZEN, enter into a painterly dialogue with photographs by Jessica Backhaus and Peter Braunholz, with paintings by Cigdem Aky, Sabine Beyerle, Marion Eichmann, Bertram Hasenauer and Martin Wehmer, and a sculpture by Roland Schmitz.

Anica Hauswald (born 1985 in Düren) always works abstractly and basically starting from the color. In origin, her painting is subject to the process of movement and energy, the spontaneous flow of painting and the joy of it.  She carries out this painting process both intuitively and controlled.

In her current works, Anica Hauswald brings the oil paint sometimes with more generous, sometimes with shorter, juxtaposed and superimposed and color-mixed brushstrokes on the image carrier.  She works confidently and quickly, with a fine sense of proportion, color mood, light and contrasts. On the one hand, she creates paintings in which her fast and almost staccato-like juxtaposition of color chords creates a dense overlapping and vibrant variety of colors. In other works, she paints airily composed, deep pictorial spaces full of light and color with singular, longer gestures. Furthermore, motifs are created on finely tuned, monochrome pictorial backgrounds, where individual brushstrokes seem to float almost fleetingly in front of the color space of the painting.
Ancia Hauswald's painting is clearly in the tradition of Informel; she is neither interested in a representational motif nor in a narrative structure in the picture.

The concept of the exhibition CORRESPONDENCES demands Anica Hauswald's painterly emotionality and formal expressivity as a reference, reflection or demarcation to the curated works of the artists of the GALERIE ANJA KNOESS. Thus, it is a black portrait of Bertram Hasenauer or the deck overlit by sunlight that Jessica Backhaus photographed in Chile, to name just two examples, to which Anica Hauswald juxtaposes her abstract visual language.

Annica Hauswald studied painting at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf from 2006 and graduated in 2014 as a master student of Herbert Brandl. 2020 - 2021 she receives various scholarships and is artist in residence in the artist town of Gmünd in Carinthia, Austria. 2021 she is awarded as art laureate of the district Düren.
